A Triptych

For an entire week I've been getting my triptych together. I'm almost there. Just a tiny bit of editing on the central panel. Just finished my covering letter. It's not good to send big things on Monday. People haven't woken up yet. Or Friday. People are winding down. I will send it on Tuesday.

Hi C

I love the idea of a small, bespoke agency, where I get attention, we have phone conversations, we plan my career together — intentionally.

I am a multi award-winning writer. Produced by big theatres. I’ve also been gaslit to fuck. Even exiled from my own rehearsal. Silver lining. Outside the system I began to see other ways to do things.

I have 3 books I want to interest you in. A triptych. The motive is race. Done in an innovative way. 3 memoirs. Embedded in 1. A how-to-write book. 2. A child-like picture book. 3. A therapy research book. Together they disseminates and monetise all I have learned over 28 years in the arts.

12-Words. (How-to-write book)

  • A writing technique I have perfected over 25 years in prisons, arts institutions and WEA courses.

  • Method. A title. First object you think of. 12 things you associate with object. 20 mins to write. Share. Unpack. Unearths next title. Repeat. I used during Lockdown to enable 3 ladies who have never written before to write their intertwined memoir TWELVE WORDS. Bluemoose publish.

  • 12-Words has 12 chapters. The first 6, the reader practises the technique. Wax on. Wax off. Releasing profound insights. Accumulating chapters. Like magic. The second 6, I teach the science and philosophy. Using the evolving universe. Psychologists Professor AD, and AM 12-words research. Previous participants’ case studies. I end each chapter using the technique to write my mixed-race journey in the arts. Transforming magic into method.

  • I’ve attached my ACE application, asking for 12 months to write it. My answer to their questions describes my expertise and intentions perfectly. And gives a flavour of my writing style.

In the Ruins of the Big House.  (Child-like picture-book)

  • My childhood and career are poisoned by caste. As an antidote, using my Irish mum’s status I declare myself the mistress of the Jamaican plantation my enslaved dad descends from.

  • 2024. Factory International. Beneath 4 family portraits, I descend Bette Davis stairs. Wearing a £2000 bespoke denim ball gown. Join my 12 guests at my decadent candlelit table. The atmosphere is gothic, fairytale, intimate, epic. My guests read out 8 vignettes. Micro-memoirs, that span my 65 years. We unpack the subtext. 4 sessions are photographed.

  • Select photos paint the 8 vignettes’ backdrops. A unique, 24-page child-like picture book. Telling my 3-dimensional memoir set inside its historic context.  It cost Factory International £100, 000 to produce.

  • I've attached the book itself.  Apart from the front and back cover, each page is a double page spread.

My Mum is White. (Therapy research)

  • A therapy that exorcises half-caste ghosts, exhumed by 12-words. Researched in HOME Art Gallery with psychologist Professor AD, and 6 other mixed-race academic/artistic professionals.

  • Using the tools: Isabel Wilkerson's Caste; Fraiberg Ghosts in the Nursery; psychology mentalisation, we’ll examine being ‘half-caste’.

  • Using my 8-station mind-mapping technique, we’ll paint a forest of the ghosts on HOME MCR’s gallery walls. Inside the 8-station forest we’ll ask ourselves and our audience what are the best 8 stepping stones to create a safe path through?

  • I've attached our AHRC application. My answer to their questions describes my expertise and intentions perfectly.  A flavour of how we write.  And the book we are working towards.

I attached my impressive CV. I have begun a blog on my new beautiful website Lindabrogan.com. My www.thereno.live blog had a huge following.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
